Match Report
This was the final match of the season and as usual was an away day, this time fishing the Billhook/ Bowsaw complex in Odiham. Odiham is relatively easy to find but locating the fishery proved challenging as it was not very well sign posted and can only be reached down narrow country lanes. As usual it was another grey day with a bitterly cold wind as seems to be the norm for this winter’s matches.
We even had light flurries of snow during the match although thankfully they were nothing like those on the following day which locked up southern Britain. We had a good turnout of 12 anglers and fished half (pegs 16-30) of Billhook Lake. The fish caught were mainly skimmers, F1s and carp although Steve Simmonds had a personal best perch of 2-8-0.
In first place was Alan Herbert with a single carp of 12-5-0 caught on method feeder. Congratulations to Alan as this is his first win with the club. He had an audience whilst playing the fish and he coped well under the pressure.
In second place was Kevin Dowell who caught a mixed bag of skimmers, F1s and carp to weigh in 10-7-4.
In third place was John Williams who caught a single carp plus skimmers on the long pole, fishing chopped worm, to weigh in 9-11-8.
