Match Report
This was the annual match for committee members, bailiffs and regular matchmen although some of the anglers could count for all three categories. As usual the match was fished at Bernies at Ashington. The weather was dry, which is unusual for matches at Bernies, with occasional sunshine but a strong wind. The last match at Bernies was won with a bag of silverfish with only the smaller carp at the fishery feeding and the weights were generally low. However things were different for this match with the bigger carp feeding and seven of the anglers weighing in over ten pounds. For this match the end pegs were not used and the anglers were split between the two banks.
In first place was Mike Kitchener who weighed in 52-14-8 of carp caught on the pole. He was fishing on the solar farm bank. Mike won the Ottaway cup.
Vince Herringshaw was in second place and fished on the car park side and caught 45-9-0 of carp on the pole fishing close to the island. His bag included a carp of 9-8-0.
Fishing on the solar farm side was Dan Bolton who took third place with 41-8-12 of carp caught on the feeder using pellets. Colin Bridger won the Committee Cup with 12-14-4.
