Match Report
We had an excellent turnout of 17 anglers to fish Petworth Park and with a strong wind blowing towards the roadside those that drew the middle section were hopeful that the bream would feed. We did have one very sharp shower to contend with early on the otherwise the weather was fairly kind to us.
There were a couple of surprises from the Hanson brothers for us when we went round with the scales. John fishing in the middle of the road bank had a small pike and Steve using his paste method behind the Island caught one of Petworth’s elusive carp, not a big fish at just under 5lb but we don’t see them that often.
Kevin Leighfield who seems to know most of the bream by name was drawn just where he wanted to be on the road side and landed 12 of his friends for 39 – 3 – 0 to easily take first place.
Denis Hurley was a couple of pegs away from Kevin and refused to believe that he was in the frame until we brought his net of tench and bream to the scales, he had five bream and three tench with a total of 26 – 3 – 0 which gave him second place.
That man Steve Hanson who is proving himself on a lot of our waters had tench and crucians with his aforementioned carp and a total weight of 20 – 1 – 0 for third slot.
Mick Greenway realised after we had carried out the draw that he hadn’t actually written his own name down, luckily we had put in a couple of extra pegs so these swiftly went back into the bag for Mick to have a draw.
