Match Report
We managed to find a Sunday when it didn’t actually rain for our autumn visit to Petworth Park, for the last month it has poured with rain every Sunday and last year it poured with rain and blew a gale. A combination of the weather and the venue meant that we had a reasonable turnout to the degree that we had to extend the pegging to behind the Islands as well as along the roadside.
The hot pegs were considered to be those around the middle of the roadside about where the concrete block is situated. This is the area that has consistently been home to the bream and it seems that you can move them to the feed either short on the pole line or further out on a feeder line.
Roger was a couple of pegs away from the concrete and elected to fish the a feeder not far beyond a comfortable pole line. Taking quality bream steadily all through the match Roger ended up with a total of 52 – 3 – 0 to win the match. This is also the top match weight so far this season and I suspect it is unlikely to be beaten.
Vince was a peg further away from the concrete to Roger’s left and although he started on the feeder he came back onto the pole line where he found fish almost immediately. Again they came steadily during the match and 34 – 11 – 0 was easily enough for 2nd place. Keith Hughes was closer to the car park and although he lost a couple of good fish his 16 – 1 – 0 was enough for 3rd place.
