A fine morning greeted us for our interclub match against Steadham Angling Club, and it was nice to catch up with some old friends. Any way down to the pegging we used the whole lake apart from the two pegs at the near end of the lake as the lily pads seem to be taking over a bit in that area. Although we had a random draw most of the Petworth and Bognor members ended up on the near end of the lake and the Steadham guys were at the bottom end.
Again getting off to a flyer, Cody was netting his first Carp within 15 minutes of the start but after that things on the Carp front were a little slow and fishing higher in the water for the Rudd saw the best of the sport for the next few hours. Just after Midday the Carp started to play with most people hooking if not landing a few of them. At the end of the match we had some good bags of fish to weigh in with Rudd to around 9oz, a Perch of around 1Ib and a Eel of 1Ib 12oz with the best of the Carp at 12Ib 14oz.
In first place with around 20lb of Rudd and three Carp was John Arnold with a total weight of 30lb 3oz.
Keith Hughes was second with 26lb 15oz and Gary Collins was third with 19lb 8oz.
On the interclub front taking the top five weights from each club Petworth & Bognor were convincing winners with 106lb 10oz to Stedham’s 45lb 8oz.
