Match Report
For a change there was no rain and the day was calm and mild for the time of year. However the challenge was getting across the field as this was still very muddy although Nelson had laid down some straw which had helped. Back Arun was flooded and closed allowing Steve Speller to join us and carry out his normal enforcer role, collecting the sweepstake money. As per usual we used the pegs that had provided the heaviest catches in the previous matches with the 9 anglers fishing pegs 1,15,7,13,10,2,14,6 and 11.
In first place was Keith Hughes who was fishing Peg 15 and weighed in 13-4-4. He caught 3 carp plus four pounds of skimmers on maggot and pellet using the long pole and fishing close to the island. He did not have any success fishing down to the left hand side where he lost 4 carp.
Glen Riley on Peg 1 got off to a flier catching 2 carp, on feeder, fishing close to the island within the first hour. This coupled with roach gave him a weight of 11-8-0 and second place.
Vince Herringshaw was close behind Glen with a weight of 10-12-0. This consisted of 1 carp caught on the feeder on maggot, fishing close to the island, along with skimmers caught on pellet using the long pole from Peg 13.
