Match Report
This match was originally scheduled for the Arun at Watersfield. However when I went there on Saturday, the river and the area next to it were ok but the stream running under the railway bridge had overflowed making access difficult. As further rain was forecast the match was moved to Hurston Match Pond. The 9 anglers who fished had a good day with over 130lbs of fish caught. These were mainly carp although Steve Simmonds and Keith Hughes had some good sized bream. In first place was Steve Speller, fishing on the road side of the pond, with 6 carp weighing 37-9-12. He was fishing the pole close to the island using pellet and sweetcorn.
Kevin Leighfield, on one of his rare Sundays off, was in second place with 5 smaller carp weighing 23-1-8 again fishing on the road side of the pond. He was using the pole and caught fish close to the island and in the margins using pellet and maggot.
The only angler on the river side to frame was Vince Herringshaw in third place. He was fishing the first platform swim and caught 4 carp fishing the pole in the margins and these weighed 22-0-4.
After the two legs of the Kirkby Bolt two anglers, Steve Speller and Vince Herringshaw had the same number of points (16) with Steve winning the series by virtue of the heavier total weight.
