Match:  LEC Cup 2nd Leg

Winner:  Vince Herringshaw
5-12-4
Runner Up:  Emmanuel Filibel
4-11-12
Third:  Mick Greenway
4-10-0

This season we have struggled on the canal with most of the catches being roach with very few skimmers. For this match we started pegging from where the iron gate enters the water up towards Chichester, as the Charity match on the canal had been won with bream and skimmers from the Grosvenor Road area. Unfortunately we did not find many skimmers with most of the catches again being roach. The last two legs of the LEC Trophy will be fished at Grosvenor Road and the Bypass so hopefully we may eventually find the skimmers.

The eight anglers who turned up were pegged wider apart than the normal 10-12 metres as the canal was clear and the bottom could be seen on the tow path side. We had a new angler Emmanuel Filibel join us along with his interpreter and the two of them did well carrying all the gear without a trolley. There was also a lot of traffic on the canal with the normal boats plus canoes and unstable paddle boards.

Steve Simmonds also had a couple of dogs in his swim.In first place, fishing on the second platform at the Hunston end of the match stretch, with a catch weighing 5-12-4 was Vince Herringshaw. This catch was mainly roach caught whip fishing using bread punch.

Emmanuel Filibel showed his proficiency with his Tubertini  gear to catch 4-11-12 of roach on the far shelf on the long pole to take second place. Emmanuel was fishing the end peg at the Chichester end of the match stretch.

Very close behind in third place was Mick Greenway with a mixed bag weighing 4-10-0. Mick was fishing in the middle of the match stretch and used the pole to catch roach on bread punch on the near shelf and skimmers fishing maggot and pinkies over groundbait on the far shelf.

After two legs Vince is in the lead with 19 points followed by Mick and Keith Hughes both with 16 points.
