Match Report
The previous leg on the canal had seen very clear water conditions and this was the situation that greeted the 6 anglers who turned up for the third leg of the LEC trophy at Grosvenor Road. Steve Simmonds decided to tackle the clear conditions by using his weed rake to try and stir up the bottom. Unfortunately this failed to incite the fish to feed in his swim. The other anglers just fished and hoped that a boat would come along to stir up the canal. It is interesting to note that both Keith and Mick fishing at either end of the match stretch managed to catch fish before the boats came along the canal. In fact in Mick’s swim the passage of the boat caused the fish to stop feeding and it took some time to start catching them again.
Fishing at the end peg closest to Chichester was Keith Hughes who caught 5-1-4 of skimmers and roach to take first place. He fished on the far shelf and used red maggot over micro pellets on the pole to catch his fish.
Fishing at the other end of the match stretch was Mick Greenway who fished on the near edge of the boat channel . He caught 3-6-8 of roach on bread punch on the pole to take second place.
In third place was Vince Herringshaw who was fishing in the middle of the match stretch and used the whip and pole and bread punch to catch 2-2-0 of roach.
After three legs of the LEC Trophy Vince leads with 27 points closely followed by Keith with 26 points and Mick with 25 points.
