Match Report
9 turned up for this match on yet another grey windy Sunday although the stretch of water being fished was reasonably calm. The match was pegged from Grosvenor Road down towards the A27 road bridge. The canal was very clear as it had been for the previous match and again gave very difficult fishing, with no one getting a bite. It was so bad that Vince even managed a visit to Screwfix.
Unfortunately this week there were no boats to cloud up the water. Hence Vince and John decided that something needed to be done and walked to the basin but found that the boat was not going to run, as they had no passengers. The crew were persuaded to run the boat for the price of some diesel and promptly at 12 the boat made a couple of passes through the stretch where we were fishing. Within five minutes all anglers started to get bites and catch fish. It was interesting to note that this week the majority of fish caught were roach whilst in the previous match it was mainly skimmers.
Vince Herringshaw using his whip and bread punch tactics caught 2-4-8 of roach to finish first.
In second place was Kevin Dowell who used the long pole to catch 2-3-8.
In third place was Mick Greenway who caught 1-9-4 of roach on a short pole line and bread punch.
The LEC series was won by Keith Hughes (34 points) followed by Vince Herringshaw (30 points) and Mick Greenway (27 points).
