Match Report
We had 9 hardy anglers turn out for the final leg of the LEC cup on the Chichester canal and it rained throughout the whole of the match. The wind direction changed from south west to north east and this change was accompanied by a marked drop in temperature. However everyone caught fish and the canal again showed what a fair venue it is with 5 weights over 3 pounds. The match was fished from the bypass bridge down towards Hunston.
Paul Ward had practised on this stretch in the previous week. This paid off with him winning the match with 5 – 10 – 0 of roach and small skimmers caught on bread punch on the pole.
In second place, Vince Herringshaw caught 4 – 5 – 0 of mainly roach with the odd skimmer again on bread punch. He alternated between his favourite whip and the pole.
Keith Hughes was just beaten into third place with 4 – 4 – 12 of roach again caught using bread punch on the pole.
With 2 wins and 2 seconds (38 points) Paul wins the overall trophy for the canal series. He was well in front of Mick Greenway (30 points) who was very closely followed by Keith Hughes (29 points)
