Match Report
The evening was initially warm, dry and grey but the rain started and lasted half of the match. The Tench Pond had been raked by Tim and his team the previous evening and this gave enough swims for the 7 anglers who turned up .
Dave Herbert won his first match in the club. He caught a mixed bag of tench and rudd, fishing on the roadside platform closest to the Carp Pond, weighing 8-2-8. His catch included 3 good sized tench caught on the pole using corn along with numerous rudd caught on maggot
In second place fishing one of the favoured river side swims was Steve Speller who caught 7 tench and the odd rudd fishing pellet and meat on the long pole to record 7-12-8.
Vinny Collier , fishing opposite Dave Herbert, took third place with a mixed bag of 2 tench, 1 bream and 1 crucian to weigh in 6-15-0.
The match was considered a success with everyone catching tench from small “bars of soap” to slightly larger specimens. Unfortunately the number of swims are limited on the Tench lake for fishing matches.
