I don’t know whether it was the threat of rain or was there something more interesting going on but the turnout for the last evening match on the canal was very low. After some debate with regard to whether we should go up or down from Hunston bridge we decided to go down to see whether the bream that produced such good weights were still around. You might have guessed that we did not get into the bigger fish as we did last week but still caught plenty of skimmers up to 12 oz with a few roach and rudd and the eels again came on towards the end of the match.

Having only managed third place in the last couple of matches this type of fishing obviously suited Vince who with 11 – 14 – 0 was easily in 1st place.

John Shepperd rolled up just before the whistle having earlier not been able to find anyone (I did say that the turnout was low but surely you would have seen someone John!). Anyway this did not deter him and his trusty whip from putting together a very respectable 7 – 0 – 0 for 2nd place.

In third after two straight wins was Keith – even he couldn’t find the better bream this time. Keith was not far behind John on 5 – 12 – 8.

His third place was enough to secure Keith the trophy for this evening series with 28 point and 47 – 10 – 8 over the three matches which is probably the best series total we have ever had from the canal. In 2nd place overall with 26 points was Vince.
