Match Report

Well a year on and nothing changes really, we returned to Bethwins having fished the water a couple of times last season. I say nothing changes – at least this year it nearly didn’t rain just a few spots, whilst last year it chucked it down. As last year, those of us who were on the carp pond were totally unable to connect with any carp so we had to resort to perch fishing, Whilst those on the tench lake were caught out yet again by the size of the carp.

On the carp lake Steve Simmonds was first with 9 – 11 – 0 of perch on the whip, these came from the same peg round the back of the lake as the winning weight last season. Steve did try for a carp on a few occasions but none were forthcoming.

Vince Herringshaw was second with a net of perch totaling 6 – 11 – 0. Vince also spent time looking for a carp but to no avail.

Third was Rab Butler with (wait for it) a net of perch totaling 6 – 7 – 0.

We match anglers have now devoted 45 man hours to the carp lake at Bethwins and we are yet to get a sniff of a carp, let alone a bite – what are we doing wrong?
