Match Report
Unfortunately only the hardcore match anglers turned up for the first of a two match evening series on Hurston Lane however some good weights were recorded and a lot of fish lost. During previous matches on this lake the carp have been difficult to entice out and weights have been built with silver fish with the odd bonus carp. Well the carp certainly came out to play although they were not all landed.
Vince Herringshaw fished two lines a whip down the middle for the bits alternating with a heavier pole line to the island. Vince ended up about even with the carp getting seven of the fifteen he hooked out. These together with 21⁄2 lb of bits gave him a total weight of 19lb 13oz for first place. Keith Hughes faired less well with the carp and only managed to get two of the seventeen he hooked out. These together with a few bits gave him 6lb 2oz for second place. Rab Butler decided to concentrate on the bits and put together a creditable all silver fish net of 5lb for third place.
The next leg of the series and our last evening match for this season is on Wednesday 18th July again at Hurston Lane
