Match Report
This was the second leg of the Moss Cup on the Rother and both upstream and downstream stretches at Shopham were used. Again it was a fine evening with the river looking in good form. Nine anglers turned up with 5 fishing upstream and 4 fishing downstream and again it was a walk-off. Several trout, which could not be weighed in and were returned, were caught in this match and Mick (trout) Greenway who was counting how many he caught had 11 with several of them around two pound in weight. Chub, dace, roach, minnows and eels were all caught during the evening. The first three anglers were very close in weight as were the other anglers who did not manage to catch any chub, hence having smaller weights, and only saw small chublets
In first place, using his knowledge of the Rother was Mike Kitchener who was fishing opposite where the Burton Mill stream comes in. He had two chub and dace weighing 8-0-4. These were all caught on the float using maggot as hook bait.
The furthest angler downstream was Steve Hanson , who again was float fishing maggots and caught two chub and dace weighing 7-14-8 to take second place.
In third place fishing on the downside of the bridge was Keith Hughes. Keith pole fished maggots and caught two chub and dace weighing 7-7-0.
After two rounds of the Moss Cup Mike Kitchener and Keith Hughes are tied in first place with 17 points
