The Rother was at least a foot down on its normal level and this gave conditions that looked challenging for the 8 anglers who turned up for the second match of the evening river series. Again, like the first match, the weather conditions were ideal with a pleasant warm overcast evening. As usual the match was a walk off and the anglers equally spilt between upstream and downstream of the bridge. As in the first match no chub were caught with only small chublets seen. The top three weights were all caught upstream of the bridge with only odd small dace seen below the bridge.

In first place, fishing in the swim opposite the Burton Mill stream, was Mick Greenway who caught 1-10-0 of dace using maggots on the stick float.

Vince Herringshaw was fishing in the furthest upstream swim by the big tree and caught a mixed bag of dace, chub and roach on the stick float. This coupled with a gudgeon caught on the pole weighed 1-6-8 and gave him second place.

In third place with a single eel of 0-14-8 caught on the leger was Jason Clarke. After two legs Vince Herringshaw leads the series with two second places
