Match Report
This match was fished against Portsmouth and District Angling Society members at their new water, Lakeside, which is located in the IBM complex just outside Portsmouth. With the temperatures very low in the week leading up to the match no one quite knew how the fish would react to these conditions. The expectation was fairly low and all the anglers thought bites would be really hard to come by and this became more evident throughout the match.
First was Vince Herringshaw who caught four carp to just over 3lb’s. Two of these were caught on the groundbait feeder, close to the far bank, using double red maggot as hookbait and the other two were caught down the inside, next to a reed bed in the last hour, once again using red maggot. In total Vince had five bites throughout the match.
Second was Steve Jeffery, who was two pegs away from Vince and again had four carp to just over 3lb’s on the groundbait feeder from the far bank using double red maggot as hookbait. Steve had nine bites all day with the first three bites all ending in lost fish.
Third was Dave Coombes, of PDAS who had one bite in the match and connected with a carp of 9-13-0. This was once again caught on a groundbait feeder close to the far bank.
Overall Petworth and Bognor comfortably beat Portsmouth with a total weight of 35-15-0 against 17-6-0.
