The second leg of the Pibworth Cup was held on the Hurston Tench Lake on a dry overcast evening which meant that the weigh in at the slightly extended finish time was still carried under gloomy conditions, necessitating the use of a torch. Five anglers turned up and the pegs used were those considered by Kitch and Keith to have the best potential for catching tench.

The lake had been raked by Kitch on the previous evening and anglers were allowed to rake on the night. The fish caught were mainly small tench and crucians which indicate that the fish are breeding and offer hope of better catches in the future. None of the bigger tench were caught although several were hooked and lost.
