The match was fished on yet another warm night – we have been very lucky with the weather so far this year with all the matches being fished in the dry. Seven anglers turned up for the last leg of the Pibworth Cup and they were pegged with 3 on the river side and 4 on the road side. The weed had grown up on the match pondand Keith Hughes and Mike Kitchener had done a good job in clearing the swims although there were still areas of weed cover. This was the first match to be won solely by bream (ie a non carp catch) although very few were caught other than on peg 1. Other fish caught were carp and the odd tench and rudd, but small silverfish were noticeable by their absence. In first place was Keith Hughes fishing Peg 1 (first platform on river side) who had a tremendous 33-10-0 catch of bream and skimmers. He was pole fishing out in the clear water and used worm and caster to easily win the match.
