We had 11 anglers turn out for the first match of the new season. The temperatures had risen of late and hopes were high on a warm dry evening. This did not prove to be the case with 5 anglers not weighing in and only 11 carp, 2 bream, I tench and odd small silver fish being weighed in.
Fishing on the first platform past the rushes on the river side Steve Speller caught 4 carp fishing pellet on the long pole close to the island. These weighed 17-8-0 to win the match.
In second place was Jason Clarke, a new member, who caught 4 carp weighing 14-14-0. Jason was fishing on the first platform on the road side and was fishing in the margins towards the outlet of the lake. He used the long pole and baited with corn. He had an active evening hooking and losing several carp one of which broke one of the sections of his pole.
Fishing the road side was Keith Hughes who caught 2 carp, 1 bream and 1 tench to weigh in 10-7-0 to finish third.
