We had a good turnout of 11 anglers for the match but they had to negotiate the muddy puddle on the path to the fishery. It was nor too bad first thing as the ground was frozen but it thawed out during the day and provided a challenge at the end of the match. Originally the match was scheduled to be fished on Cart but the overnight frost had made all the swims on it unfishable and the match was switched to Stemps. Several of the pegs on Stemps were frozen over but there were sufficient pegs for those who had turned up. The pegs on Cart were still frozen over at the end of the match indicating the temperature did not rise much during the day. With the low temperatures the fishing was expected to be difficult but everyone caught fish with some good catches of roach and skimmers seen. No carp however were caught in the match
Kevin Dowell was in first place fishing on peg 10. He caught roach on pinkies on his close in line and then found good numbers of skimmers on his long line to weigh in 9-14-8..
In second place was Steve Speller, fishing peg 13, who caught mainly roach to weigh in 8-11-0
On peg 2 was Vince Herringshaw who caught 7-4-8 of roach to finish third
The next leg will be fished on Cart provided it is not frozen.
