Match Report

Match:  Pole only 2nd Leg
Venue:  Stemps
Winner:  Glen Riley
53-6-8
Runner Up:  Kevin Dowell
5-6-8
Third:  Phil Tubb
4-10-8

Eleven anglers turned up for the second leg of the Pole only match on Stemps on a grey day. There had been a frost in the previous week and this had caused the colour to drop out of the water, hence there were concerns that the fishing would be hard with few fish. However this did not turn out to be the case with Kevin Dowell catching a pound plus roach on his first drop in. Numerically the majority of fish caught were roach with the odd skimmer plus the big catch of carp from peg 1.

In first place fishing peg 1 was Glen Riley who caught 15 carp on red maggot fishing over to the island to weigh in 53-6-8 and easily win the match. The carp seemed to be concentrated in this swim as the only other carp was caught in peg 15. It was interesting that Glen had unrequested assistance by another angler, not in the match, who was directing him where the fish were.

Kevin Dowell was fishing on peg 8 and weighed in 5-6-8 of mainly roach caught on pinkie along with the odd skimmer caught on pellet fishing at 13 metres.

In third place was Phil Tubb who fished meat to catch 4-10-8 of roach.

Overall the Pole Only trophy was convincingly won by Glen Riley with 19 points having won one match and coming second in the other.
