Match Report

A wet and very windy morning greeted us at Cart pond for the pole only match on Sunday 6th February. The forecast was for the rain to stop but the wind to stay strong for the day. We pegged every other peg to give every one some space to play with. Hopes were high as most of the week had been mild and one of the members had fished Stemps pond in the week and done OK. In the event it proved hard going and the heavy rain we had after about an hour seemed to put the small fish off completely.

Keith fishing peg 27 fished at around 5m on a light rig over a little ground bait with meat started catching some nice net Skimmers from the off but this slowed right down and after a top up died. Starting another line at around 6.5m this just never got going with just the very odd small fish. He ended up going out to 14.5m to fish around 1m off the island and between the gusts of wind found a few small Carp on punched bread.

Steve fishing peg 16 started on punched bread on the whip and had a few silvers but the rain seemed to put them off. Looking for Carp along the bushes to his right he found it hard going and the fish that make that part of the lake their home did not particularly want to feed. He did in the end a find couple of small Carp on bread.

Graham fishing peg 29 fishing at around 6m over ground bait started catching net skimmers from the off, but like peg 27 this slowed right down and with the island well out of range for the pole in this peg he plugged away over two lines picking up the odd fish.
