13 anglers turned out for the second leg of the pole only match and the muddy puddle on the path to the fishery did not seem to be as difficult to negotiate as in the previous leg . It was a mild day and there were occasional glimpses of that yellow thing in the sky. Expectations were high as the previous match, in much colder conditions, on Stemps had seen good catches of skimmers and roach. This did not prove to be the case with no carp caught and only one reasonable bag of skimmers. The main catches were small roach.
Paul Ward, on peg 24, caught numerous small roach on bread punch fishing close in before changing to a line close to the island for skimmers. He fished double red maggot over pellets to weigh in 5-9-0 of skimmers and small roach to win the match.
In second place was Kevin Hughes, fishing peg 27, who caught a bag small roach weighing 2-2-4
On peg 28 was Steve Simmonds who caught 2-1-0 of roach on the pole rather than his regular whip to finish third
Overall the winner of Pole Only trophy in a very close series was Paul Ward (15 points), closely followed by Steve Simmonds and Kevin Dowell, both with 14 points.
