Match Report
It was another grey day with a cold wind and as there had been heavy rain the previous week and an overnight frost, expectations were not high. This proved to be the case for the 11 anglers who turned up for the first leg of the Presidents Cup. There were also signs that the River Storr had been over its banks and flooded into the lake. Eight out of the eleven anglers caught one or more carp but again there was a noticeable absence of silver fish and perch. Six anglers were pegged on the river side and 5 on the road bank.
Steve Simmonds was fishing halfway along the road bank and caught 3 carp weighing 13-8-8 to win the match. These fish were caught close to the island on the long pole with maggots or pellet.
Closely following in second place was John Williams who caught a magnificent common carp of 13-4-4 from the furthest peg on the roadside.
Mick Greenway was third with a single carp of 7-1-12 caught on worm from the reed swim on the river side.
