Match Report
Eight anglers turned up for the rearranged Presidents Cup match at Hurston and we were unsure what to expect. Although the previous week had been relatively mild it had rained on Saturday with an overnight frost
Four pegs were put in on the stream side and four on the other side. To use football terminology it ended up a match of two halves with only those on the non stream side catching carp. The anglers on the stream side struggled although Steve Simmonds caught one of the recently introduced bream, of about one and a half pounds and lost two others of similar or larger size
In first place, Steve Speller (pictured below) fishing close to the island using maggot and sweetcorn caught 3 carp weighing 14 – 7 – 0 including one of about 7 pounds
Vince Herringshaw (below) fishing at the far end of the island had one carp on maggot and this gave him second place with 6 – 14 – 0
In third place was Keith Hughes who hooked the most carp but only managed to get one of 4 – 1 – 0 out
