Match Report

The day started as seems to be the norm for this winter’s matches with it being cold and grey. However it warmed up and the sun even put in an appearance. Again we had a good turnout of 12 anglers for the second leg of the Presidents Cup and as in previous matches at this venue they were split evenly between the two sides of the lake. Five out of the twelve anglers caught one or more carp but again there was a noticeable absence of silver fish, although Steve Simmonds did catch a skimmer bream of 1-5-8.

Keith Hughes was fishing on the road side of the pond and caught 2 carp to weigh in 13-5-4 to win the match. His fish were all caught on the long pole close to the island and one of these was a near ten pound fish.

Kevin Leighfield, on one of his non working Sundays,  was fishing the reed swim on the river side and caught 4 carp for 13-2-0 to finish closely behind in second place. These were all caught fishing into the reeds.

In third place was John Williams who caught a single carp of 2-11-8 on maggot in the inside margin of his river side swim.

Winner Keith Hughes	A very close second was Kevin Leighfield

This series was very closely fought and resulted in a win for John Williams (17 points) closely followed by Steve Simmonds (16 points), Mick Greenway (15 points) and Keith Hughes (14 points)
