Match Report
The first leg of the Ranson Trophy was fished on Hurston Match Lake after the temperature had dropped overnight. The fish tend to switch off under these conditions and this proved to be the case in this match with the anglers struggling for bites. Two anglers were pegged on the roadside bank with the remainder on the riverside bank.
In first place was Keith Hughes who was fishing on Peg 5 and caught 2 carp, a perch and a bream weighing in total 8-10-0. The fish were all caught in the main track on maggot using a pole.
There was a drop in weights down to second place, which was taken by Steve Simmonds who caught a ‘brown goldfish/ fantail’ and a few small roach weighing 1-13-0. Steve was fishing Peg 14.
Third place was a tie between Graham White and Colin Bridger. Graham took 1-3-8 of small roach and perch from Peg 2 and Colin the same weight of small roach from Peg 8. Both anglers used maggot on the pole.
After 29 matches Mick Greenway leads the Clubman (146 points) from Steve Simmonds (124 points), Matchman (1099) from Phil Tubb (578) and the Aggregate Weight (248-6-0) from Phil Tubb (139-0-0).
