Our first visit to the Rother of the season on a very hot afternoon / evening. There were not many of us and we all fitted in on the first straight on the north bank.

Steve S went the furthest down fishing between the trees in the small cattle drink. He did get visited by the cattle but they formed a fairly orderly cue and drank in pairs before moving off. There was also a dog that swam through his swim a couple of times, not a word of apology from the owners however. Despite this he caught small fish regularly throughout the duration of the match and 3lb 0oz of Roach, Dace and Gudgeon was good for first place.

Mick after a bit of a wander went in the very first swim, this has produced quite well in the past, but is prone to Pike problems. This was the case again and no doubt the presence of the PikeĀ  made the Roach and Dace a bit wary, nethertheless Mick’s 2lb 4oz 12dm was good for second place.

Steve P settled into the first swim after the trees on the basis that it was a bit shaded from the sun. He was somewhat hampered by the depth of water which he found to be greater than expected and a bit diffcult to handle with the float rod he had brought. Steve did land a Pike albeit a whole 4″ long! The rest of his fish weighed in at 1lb 13oz 4dm (the Pike did not count) for third place.
