Match Report

The weather and the fact that England were playing their first game in the football world cup meant that only two anglers turned up for our first river match of the season.

We fished the north bank and after Mark had decided on the first swim in the trees just down from the bridge, Steve was happy to go into the swim just below at the end of the trees. There was a good depth of water and a nice pace on the river which together should give plenty of bites.

Steve decided to fish a stick float and trotting along the crease and picked up plenty of small Roach, Dace and Chublets. Venturing into the slack on the inside produced  a number of reasonable Perch and one very good sized Perch (approx 2lb) was seen but not hooked.

Mark decided to concentrate on a flat float on the pole and although he definitely had better fish, he had some long periods without a bite.
