Match Report
Another very hot afternoon and evening. Those that got there early cut out a few places to fish, although it was very difficult to find spots where you could really get close to the water. It was good to see Duncan and Ron back – they missed the previous week as Duncan was working.
There were some cattle in the field and they seemed to take a particular liking to Steve P for some reason and followed him up and down the stretch!
Steve P drew 1 at the walk off and although he (and I think all of us were as well) had been interested in one of the down stream swims, he decided to stay fairly close to the top of the stretch – perhaps he didn’t want to entice the cattle again. That left the fancied swim to Steve S who drew 2, MickĀ went a little further down, Ron and Duncan decided to go upstream into the next field and Nick after wandering around a bit settle pretty much in the middle.
The fancied swim did produce the top weight for Steve S but most of his fish, a general mixture of silver fish came in the first hour after which it was just the odd fish every now and again. A somewhat disappointing weight of 2lb 4oz was enough to wil the match.
Duncan was second from the cattle drink area with for 1lb 6oz 8dm and Steve P third with 1lb 3oz both had a similar mix of silver fish and found that it started well but tailed off rapidly.
Mick was in a area dominated by Pike and Trout and landed one Pike (pictured below) after a long struggle on his match gear – unfortunately we do not weigh Pike in our matches.
