Our third evening match on the Rother and there were high hopes for some decent catches from Coultershaw. Ron Elms drew one and decided on the popular confluence swim, Cody drew two and possibly slightly influenced by grandfather Keith (there were cows in the field) decided to go back to the mill pool. That left the favoured crate swim available for Mick Greenway. Richard Leduc went for the all or nothing option and decided to fish Chris’s swim for Barbel, sadly his gamble did not pay off and he recorded his first ‘did not weigh’ of the season.
After a first half hour or so with just a Minnow to show for his efforts, Mick finally got into the Dace and caught steadily for the rest of the match to record a top weight of 6lb 12oz.
Duncan Elms fished the narrow section in the first field on the stick float and put together a respectable mixed net of 2lb 12oz. After last year’s success with a big Bream from the Mill Pool a groundbait approach was tried by Cody, unfortunately no Bream but a lot of small fish gave him 2lb 8oz for third place.
