Match Report
As the work was still ongoing at Stemps and Cart we moved the match to Hurston lane Match pond. A very wet morning greeted us and the forecast was rain all day but with the new paths the walk down it is much better than it ever was. All three lakes were high with a lot of colour so we were not sure how it would fish. It turned out that it fished very well.
Keith drew peg 5 and was not all that happy as this peg had finished last in the past few matches. Anyway, he set up the pole on four lines, two on worms and the other 2 with just a little groundbait and a few dead maggots. After around 10 minutes he started catching Roach on the ground bait line. About 1/2 an hour in he had a look over one of his worm lines and hooked and a large F1. He found by switching between the 2 worm lines he kept the bites coming and his 36lb 12oz was easily enough for first place.
Graham drew peg 1 and set up 2 lines one in open water and the other closer to the lily pads. He got off to a flyer landing 7 Carp and F1’s within the first 2 1/2 hours but then found things slowed right down and when he did hook another Carp he lost it, however his 23lb 120z gave him second place.
Mick drew peg 5, the same peg as the previous week. He set up to fish close to the Island and alongside the lily pads. He found it hard going catching the odd small Roach until around 1pm when he started catching better F1’s close to the island along with a nice Bream. He ended up with 19lb 15oz more than double his winning weight from last week but this time it was only good for third place.
