Match Report
The first match of the new year, and the first visit to Stemps Wood for a few months due to the major work that has taken place on Cart pond. A fine morning greeted us for what turned out to be a horrendous walk across to the ponds, from the end of the path to the gate was under water with very soft ground and we had to help each other carry our trolleys across.
The draw saw both Steve and Keith getting the pegs that they had fished in the week for a session to move stock back into Cart.
Keith on peg 8 started with two lines one at 4m and another at 13m feeding ground bait on the longer line. He started on the short line fishing to hand and catching Roach up to around 4oz. After around 3/4 of hour he started fishing the longer line with corn started catching Skimmers up to around 10oz but they would not get their head down and kept moving off the ground baited area. In the last hour after seeing Graham catching Carp on the bomb Keith fed an inside line to his left had a good run of Carp up to around 3Ib. His total of 24lb 10oz was just enough to pip Graham and win the match
Graham drew the Golden Peg, peg 5 and found it hard to keep the silvers coming started fishing the method feeder to the island but after casting his feeder into the trees he picked up his bomb rod and fishing with a banded pellet had a steady run of Carp. Unfortunately he was probably one Carp short of picking up the Golden Peg win with 22lb 8oz for second place.
Gary fished peg 7 on the Pole at around 8m all day catching Roach with the odd Skimmer and small Carp on maggot and worm for 9lb 11oz and third place.
