Match Report

A fine morning greeted us at Stemps pond for the first time in weeks and the forecast was also good for the whole day. The draw was made leaving out the pegs that needed some work to the platforms and also peg 3 that had been destroyed by the fallen tree following the storms.

It was a mixed start to the match with Vince in peg 9 and young Cody in peg 10 catching some nice Skimmers from the off but the rest of us struggling for a bite.

Keith who had drawn peg 14 for the 3rd match in a row had a plan to feed a long line with ground bait and give it time to settle and to start short as before after some Roach. The Roach never showed for some reason and after about half an hour he went out on the ground bait line fishing meat and had 8 Skimmers in a row before it slowed down. Switching between meat and maggot he managed a few more Skimmers along with some small Roach until the last 1/2 hour when he had 2 Carp over the same line for 14lb 5oz and first place.

Vince was able to keep the odd Skimmer coming to the net for most of the match on the long pole over little top ups of ground bait and also found a small Carp down the edge, his total of 7lb 1oz was good for second place

Gary fishing peg 15 started switching between the feeder and long pole looking for Carp in and around the fallen tree opposite him, but after 3 or so hours with just 1 Skimmer in the net he started a braver line down along the bank to his left, he never found any Carp but started catching nice Roach around the 3oz mark for the rest of the Match and 4lb 10oz was enough for third place.
