Match Report

Our first visit for a match at Holmbush and most of us had decided that we would concentrate on the silver fish, although we suspected that Jon (carpman) Arnold might have a go for the Carp.
We had a bit of rain but nowhere near as much as we expected, although the day was mainly overcast.
Paul Ward was pegged immediately to the right of the party swim on the near side and after being plagued by small stuff just knocking at maggot, he decided to go to worm on the hook. He had a string of very nice roach with one skimmer for his 10lb 8oz to take first place.
Vince Herringshaw was the first peg on the far side and started on the whip but was unable to get any meaningful bites. A switch to the tip with a small feeder and he found the Roach and was not far behind Paul with 9lb 2oz for second place.
Steve Simmonds drew the memorial swim and decided on a waggler approach, fishing around two rod lengths out, he had an early flurry of decent fish including a couple of decent skimmers but the size soon dropped off but his 8lb 14oz was enough to secure third place.
