Match Report

Stemps Pond was the new venue for today’s match having moved from Cart pond. It turned out to be a very wet and windy day. As always the first draw of the day was for golden peg and that was be Peg 1, one of the two pegs along with Peg 15 you would normally want to stand the best chance of winning the match. It was the last number out of the bag when we drew going to the Match secretary Keith.

Come the start of the match the rain had really started to come down hard with the wind blowing across the lake from the Cart side which made fishing the long pole almost impossible. Keith had a couple of small Carp early and then the peg started to fill up with muddy water coming in from the ditch and the fishing switched off. Mark in Peg 13 and Mick in Peg 8 were picking up the odd fish and Peg 15 was really struggling.

Keith with the coloured water made a switch to fishing chopped worm with worm on the hook and never looked back putting together a net of 17Ib 11oz of silver fish including 9 big Perch of around a 1Ib each, these together with his early Carp where enough to easily win the match with 34lb.

Mark in Peg 13 continued to pick up a Carp every now and then and ended up with 20lb 1oz for second place and Mick ended up with 10lb for third.
