On Sunday 3rd October we held an inter Club match against Stedham Angling Club at our Hurston lane Match Lake. With six anglers from each club competing.
After very heavy rain all day on Saturday the lane was well flooded. All the ponds were brimming and following a cold night with the temperature measured at just 5º C in the car park at 7.30 and every peg taken we thought this would be hard.
As it turned out the F1’s that we stocked last year did what they are meant to do and fed so it looks like the winter fishing at Hurston is on the up.
In 1st place was Cody with 16 Ib 7 oz from Peg 6, 2nd was a familiar face to some – John Williams who now fishes for Stedham with 16 Ib 1 oz from Peg 2 and in 3rd place yet again beaten by his grandson off the next peg was Keith Hughes with 13 lb 14 oz from Peg 7.
Also well done to our newest member young Dexter who despite not getting a bite sat it out and never gave up.
Overall team results
Petworth & Bognor – 44Ib and 26 points
Stedham – 59Ib 14oz and 30 points
